BASIC JOB FUNCTION:
The Quality Assurance Manager will oversee the activity of the Quality Control Lab and staff, developing, implementing, and maintaining a system of quality and reliability testing for the organization’s products and/or development processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- People Leadership and Development: directly responsible for the growth and development of five direct reports including: performance evaluations, succession planning, promotions, and long-term career growth planning.
- Performance management & leader standard work including setting short- & long-term objectives & daily detailed planning & prioritization of work tasks
- Evaluating off spec batches to determine cause and solution
- Continuous improvement by analyzing run data and completing projects improving manufacturing by reducing batch adjustments and cycle times
- Managing raw material quality
- Ability to make detailed observations of lab tests and to accurately record the data and observations
- Work with low to moderately hazardous chemicals using safety procedures and practices
SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Good understanding of process equipment and chemistry
- Strong data observation and interpretation skills
- Strong computer skills (SAP knowledge preferred but not required)
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively in a team environment
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy, with ability to compare data, detect inconsistencies, and determine actions for resolution
- Strong verbal, written communication skills and interpersonal skills with the ability and desire to effectively and positively interact with supervisor, peers, and across functions
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize multiple work deadlines
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry
- 5+ years of experience of a combination of people leadership and working in a lab environment
- Experience in a manufacturing environment and maintaining ISO 9001 standards
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work an eight (8) hour shift in a lab environment.
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time at a bench performing tasks.
- Must be able to lift objects that are less than or equal to 30 lbs.
- Will be required to use computer daily to effectively complete job functions for entire shift.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical environment requires the employee to work within a manufacturing facility with a lab environment and office setting. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials. Company operates under ISO practices and procedures.
