Global Sustainability Project: Successful project finalization IRMa
MÜNZING Group
Resource efficiency and circular economy in practice
In the IRMa project (Integrative Resource Efficiency Management for SMEs in the chemical industry) funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection MÜNZING CHEMIE worked together with Pforzheim University, Buzil and krumedia to develop and implement solutions for more sustainable production methods. The aim was to create methods and digital tools that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can use to systematically identify and exploit potential for energy and resource efficiency and recycling.
At MÜNZING CHEMIE, specific measures were implemented as part of the project - including heat recovery in compressed air production, the use of a high-temperature heat pump, the optimization of packaging with recycled content and the comprehensive digitalization of energy data collection. These measures not only help to reduce CO₂ emissions, but also increase energy efficiency and process stability.
In addition, a software-supported management approach was implemented that enables the networked evaluation and monitoring of resource flows. In future, it will also be possible to efficiently determine CO₂ footprints at product and site level and integrate them into the sustainability strategy.
IRMa impressively demonstrates how practical research, digitalization and industrial implementation go hand in hand - an important building block on the way to climate-neutral production at MÜNZING CHEMIE.
